Redbud Series

This large-scale pastel series was commissioned by Dan Amato, civically-active resident of Columbus, Wisconsin and owner of the Columbus Antique Mall, and designed for the City Hall Auditorium. Dan wanted to leave legacy to “The Redbud City”, appreciative of the life he and his wife Rose have lived there.

Amato fell in love with the Redbud, perceptive of all of its nuances, after it was planted all over the city through a Lion’s Club tree sale in 1979 and has memorialized it with this commission.

About Anne

With the completion and reproduction of her latest group of artwork, the Redbud Series, Anne M. Klein’s art could be said to have found its home not only in the home of others, but also in the public eye. For years, Klein has documented the intricacies of flora not only in her back yard with beautifully detailed renderings of typical garden flowers, but also as far away as Peru in her exploration of the Kovachii orchid. It has not been until recently, however, that Klein has decided to make her work available not just as single original drawings, but also as high-quality Giclee prints.

Anne’s understanding of botany stemmed from her love of nature at an early age, was supported throughout her life with trips to places like Costa Rica and the Olympic National Rainforest and put to use when she served on a non-profit tree planting board. She was also the first female and youngest member of the Governor’s Urban Forestry Council in Wisconsin. She now owns a small piece of land in the Wisconsin Dells that provides numerous opportunities to interact flora and inspirational landscapes.

Being a multi-faceted individual, Klein prides herself on being involved in many projects and businesses simultaneously. Her passion for teaching art not only awarded her a Master Teacher certification for the state of Wisconsin but plays into her future with her plans to potentially start a small ceramics retreat on her land in the Dells. Along with her pastel renderings of plants, Klein has been experimenting with portraiture and hopes to expand her already growing portfolio thereof. Her portraits are visual investigations not only of individuals but also of the energies surrounding them. She looks forward to all of the potential her future holds and is excited about the possibilities that her artwork and its continuously greater exposure is providing.
